Last Boxing Day, Dylan had his stroke in the rescue before he found a home with us in early January. I spotted him on the rescue's website with details of his past and made an appointment to see him the following day. We had only been guinea 'slaves' for a couple of months with Blaze and Scampy (RIP both) and were learning all we could, and we had a couple of reservations about his condition as we were still so new to piggies. But when I held him at the rescue centre he buried his head under my arm and just sat there, quiet as anything, and we knew at that point he was coming home with us
For the first few months, he grabbed his food and dashed into his little stick house. Now he snuffles through his food happily and confidently and there is no more hiding.
Despite having a head tilt and thinking he would need medical attention regularly if he even made it much longer, we are happy to say that over the year the head tilt has diminished and he's the most nippy, fearless and chatty of all our boys. He enjoys the company of other pigs, but won't tolerate another pig without a divider. We think this was down to his past - he was kept in a tiny room free range with over 70 other pigs. He still has his down days and quiet periods, but we are so very proud of him.
Julie (Boureki) bought me a mousemat for Christmas with his picture on, and this is the picture she took of him:
If the pic doesn't show, here is the link: https://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb302/jumarty/Dylcorn.jpg
At this point he is snoozing in his slipper bed ;D
