Adopted guinea pig, under a year old. Sometimes he spins but in a smaller cage its not often. Ruled out inner ear infections no ringworm possibly nuerological. I brought him home from the hospital today and he has been mouthing his water bottle for the past 10 minutes. But he has been eating and drinking well and passing his bowels. He has never been fed veggies so I was wondering if I should slowly introduce them as to not upset his intestinal flora or just start daily greens. I have him a small quarter piece of a carrot today. Thank you!

Welcome.
Glad you rescued him.

I have an exotic vet I trust. If you are concerned about his health, maybe check with a vet first? It may or may not be something serious and he is very young.

I was appointed a pet parent by a friend who didn’t want Lara and this friend never even knew guinea pigs ate veggies.
I was already raising my boy Finn and while searching for a cagemate for my Finn, Lara landed at my house. I house Finn and Lara in separate cages as I am not a breeder. Last thing I want to do is cause trouble by allowing them to have babies.

It took a little effort for Lara to get used to eating veggies, nail cutting, and getting her proper beddings. She has been doing very well, eating, popcorning, and saying stuff to us.

Slowly introduce veggies over the next few weeks. Small amounts initially and one type at a time to see if anything upsets him.
Once he has settled in consider contacting a rescue local to you (see our rescue locator) and bond him to a suitable friend
