Just joining the forum today to see what help and advice I can get and possibly give with regards to Piggies! I’ve currently got a four-year-old boy called Hector he’s been on his own for a year now as we thought he was okay on his own And didn’t seem to be particularly thrilled with his previous cage mate but now I’m worried he may be getting lonely so we are looking to adopt one possibly two piggies to live with him. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be anywhere in Norfolk that will bond my piggies for me But the local RSPCA currently have two females and said they would be willing to take them back if the bonding process did not go well so I’m going to submit my application today and see what they say!

It is wonderful that you are thinking of getting a friend for Hector - pigges really are better off with a friend (or two).
Good luck with the application process, and hopefully Hector will have a new companion very soon.

My application for 2 piggies from the RSPCA has been approved! :yahoo: I will pick up my 2 girlies on Saturday and bring them home! My husband has given up his study so we can turn it into a Guinea pig room! Just hope they like Hector and he likes them!

Congratulations. I am also a Norfolk girl. Rescues are pretty much non existent here!

That is awesome news. Can’t wait to see your pics when you get them home. Good luck with the introductions.

Exciting times! I remember my first attempt at bonding (also a neutered male with two females). I read all the information on here, I set up a bonding pen, I had a pair of oven gloves ready (in case of fights), I prepared a big sharing plate of veggies, popped in the pigs and two mins later they were bonded and settled with each other. Kind of an anti climax at the end of the day :)) I've bonded neutered males 3 times and each time it's been completely uneventful and easy so hopefully you will find the same.

Most aren't approved rescues or clsim to rescue but breed also. For example one local rescue here in Norwich put a video of a piggie in a deep bath of water. The caption said something along the lines of my piggie loves to swim..it was trying to swim out of sheer fright

That’s awful!

Here are my piggies! Hector is the ginger and white, my middle aged man who seems excited by the smell of the young ladies! My new piggies are Penelope, white and black and Margaret, Margaret is the almost blind piggie but seems to be managing just fine.

Bonding seems to be ok so far, Hector is very stinky and him and Penelope have had noises and a bit of pushing and shoving but they are both in this little hidey together. Although still on the noisy side! She was nuzzling his ear a little. Poor Margaret is just hiding and Hector hasn’t even noticed her.
