What is the likelyhood of this bond working? My sow is adult and now a calmer pig. My boar is only about 6 months we think. Definitly junior anyway. Hes hyper does lots of zooming but does chill out on his hidey roof alot.

Basicly is the bond that is most likely to work?

I have the new cage now and am.looking for a date to get my boar neutered next

It is worth a try. You can keep them alongside each other during the 6 weeks post-op safety wait so they have each other for company and ongoing stimulation and are familiar with each other before you introduce them.

How old is your sow? Please be aware that in the end it all depends on character compatibility and mutual liking, so there is never a full guarantee of success.
With sows there is the rough rule that they are the easier to accept a boar as long as they are at a good childbearing age but the older the get, the more choosy they can become to accept a new companion. Boars in turn tend to mellow with age as their testosterone output gradually fizzles out.

PS: Make sure that you use the Cat&Rabbit Care Clinic for neutering! Best place for a problem-free ride for a long distance around. ;)

They live next door to each other. The sow dot is always looking for burnie. He doesnt look for her much lol. I will be using simon.

My sow is 2 1/2 . They have been out on floor timr togethet before i knew how fast they can breed. And they got on well. Burnie the boar kicked her out of the hidies when he wants them. And rumble struts. There was no biting or anything. And they did end up grazing toegether. I stopped this about 6 weeks ago. She isnt pregnant thank god. When dot chases him he popcorns and runs off.

Basicly burnie was the boss. Dot accepted it with no aggression shown for challenging

Sorry what i put before isnt very clear, I'm on my phone typing in the passenger seat of a van lol. I'm going to give it a go, its definitly looking alot better than my old boar sky was with her, sky used to lunge at her with teeth showing, sometimes waiting with his jaw open, she would keep trying to be round him but sky wouldnt have any of it
He was neutered, shame really

Just another question. Is it normal for dominance to be accepted straight away?
