Hello All
Sorry its been such a long time since I have last posted . . but i am in need of a bit of advice.

We had to rush CoCo to the vets today I went out to check her in the run this afternoon and she was dragging her back legs . . . the vet checked her over and could feel no obvious breaks or swelling, she put her on the floor and coco seemed to walk fine, the vet did a senses test in cocos back legs and she could feel them both fine. The vet advised to take her home and observe to make sure she eats and wees and poos (as it some spinal injuries can prevent weeing and pooing) and to take her back if worried at all, but in her eyes coco seemed a picture of health.

Since being home she has wee'd and poo'd and is eating fine she just seems weak on her back legs (no where near as bad as she was in the run this afternoon), I plan on taking her back to the vet tomorrow if no improvement
I have read on the forum that some times giving liquid calcium and liquid vit c can help?

we have brought her and smokie back indoors to keep an eye on them now.

Any advise / other things i should look for or be doing would be greatly received

Kind regards
Kelly x

I had also read about the calcium in one of Peter gurneys books or on guinealynx - it was i think given over a 3 day period by a vet - it will be somewhere on- ilne -if that helps xx

Your vet seems to have covered most things here. Lots of things can cause back legs issues. I would just do as they have said and keep a close eye on her.

Get better soon Coco.

Hello everyone, thanks for your replies she's been back to vets mon and tues and is now on pain killers and antibiotics, the vets can feel a definite swelling in one of her back legs . . .hoping it's just bad bruising and not a dislocation or break.

She used both legs this morning when I tried to catch her to give her meds (not properly but a definite improvement) she had spirt so that's a good thing.

Amazingly Smokie her cage mate has been dragging veggies over to her it's soooo sweet!

I just hope so much that the pain killers work, the next step would be X-rays and operations / hydrotherapy etc the vets did explain that as she's an old girl she may not pull through the X-ray sedation and/ or operations, and even if she did they may not be able to do anything for her depending on the out come.

Will keep you all updated x
