Hi .. as some on you know we had to help Pippin over the rainbow bridge on Christmas day 😥
Her friend Winny has just been to the vets basically for a once over as we have no idea what caused Pippin to stop eating etc.

Now I felt like a knotted bit of fur on Winny in the middle of her back and what looked like a sore.. pic attached. The knobbly bits of fur are now gone and the sore doesn't look as red but it's a worry...
Maybe I am being super paranoid after what's just happened.. especially as Pippin had quite a few of these on her-knotty bits then if you rubbed a piece of fur would come out.

The vet said we could treat for possible mites with invermectin..as a precaution?

I did clean the cage after Pippin had died and changed all the bedding and removed all the tunnels etc - again paranoid..
Her skin could just be dry and she has what looks like dandruff in a few places.. her fur is wild so quite hard to see..

So just after opinions really... xx

Its good to be cautious about Winny after losing Pippin, petsonally I would ask the vet to do fur and skin scrapes for mites, fungal and bacterial skin infections just to make sure. There's no harm in starting a course of mite treatment on your vets recommendations while you wait for test results, but to be honest mites are so easily seen down the sort of microscope most vets have on site, so I would ask for a hair sample inspecting for hay/fur mites and a skin scrape checking for mange mites while you wait or go back next day, if no obvious mites show up maybe some precautionary fungal treatment could be offered as a dermatophyte fungal culture test needs sending away to a lab and takes a week or two to grow, which is a long wait if there's a lurking fungal illness...
Sorry you are having this worry after losing Pippin but you are absolutely right to be cautious just in case x
