Hi guys i a have two guinea pigs ralph and spike. Last summer he got caught by a fox, the fox picked him up and dropped him from a height. He went into shock thought he would die but he was ok. since then he get really lose poo.He is on a hay and dried food only. He seen the vet but they don't really know a lot about guinea pigs . they kept giving him stuff to put in the water but really improved when I changed his diet. today he is bleeding from his bum I think. its very bright red but he trying to hump the other guinea pig.
please advise what should I do.

kelly

I would have him seen by an emergency vet as the blood does not sound good. Is your vet knowledgeable in guinea pigs? It really helps when they are.

Woops just realised you said vet is not good. There is a vet locater on here so you can find one who is good with guinea pigs. It is never wise to add anything to guinea pigs water. They need medicines directly. Is he eating much hay? It should be 80% of his diet.

Please see a vet as an emergency. Any measure of fresh bleeding needs to been as soon as possible! You can usually find a contact number for out-of-hours vets from your regular vet's answering machine.

It's definitely a vets visit as said above. Let us know how he gets on
