I love all animals so much but ever since I was little I have always had a soft spot for guineapigs . I would love to keep other rodents or dogs or cats ( or other exotic animals ) but I will always have a soft spot for guineas and they will always be my favourite along with pigs being a close second (lmao maybe there is a correlation there) I love that they are basically sentient potatoes :,,) but it is not just the way that they are adorable but they have such sweet personalities and each Guinea is so unique and it’s one of the most wonderful feelings when they finally feel safe enough to where you can see their idiosyncrasies and quirks . One of my Guineas has the personality of a goof ball and is really crazy and erratic and the other Guinea is super chilled out and had the energy of an old man haha. I just love them so much and being around them makes me so happy .

I feel the same, I love all animals but guinea pigs speak to my soul!

I think it is perfectly acceptable to have favourites! I also love all animals (I've had so many species over my lifetime, from Degus, Chinchilla, rats, rabbits, piggies, horses, fish, birds, dogs, cats etc), but my affinity will always be with horses. And of course my dog (who is literally my soulmate and best friend), but in general, horses will always be my favourite species. I hope I can continue to keep them and compete forever! But that doesn't mean that I love the piggies any less than the horses

I've also had cats, dogs and rabbits - it's always the guinea pigs I miss. There's something about the interaction between ourselves as humans and guinea pigs as small furry potato prey that I genuinely love. Here's an animal I have no right to expect anything but fear, wariness, terror from - and yet what I get is something else entirely. I get to watch them grow as I don't with the others. I still remember the first day Blitzen took food from my hand, and you all get how momentous that is, but not everyone does. I might groan sometimes about the goblins shrieking the house down but I also know it's a good sign, because they're happy to call to for me, they aren't afraid to announce themselves with the Human around. They'll get nose to nose to me if they think there's food on the go.

I can't say no to the experience. It's always worth it.

I have always had a soft spot for rodents generally... as a small child I was obsessed with mice and had several of them growing up. I've got a soft spot for guinea pigs too... my first experience was with a classroom pet, Caramel, as a small child and I've loved them ever since. The personalities on them are wonderful (right now we've got a sedate one and a live wire!) The fact that it takes time to earn their trust makes it all the more rewarding when you finally do. They're just great little fur potatoes! LOL!

They’ve been an eye opener for me! I didn’t expect to fall for them. I’m a dog person, but I love my Guinea girls. The feeling of being allowed to give them a wee stroke when I feed them now is so rewarding. It took about 6 months but so worth the patience!
