What safe ways is there of making my rodent room smell nicer? I do not want to spray anything, and worried that plug-ins may be a danger.. Ive tried the cut lemons, oranges etc but it still stinks! I cleaned them out yesterday and today you would never know! I have VERY messy boys! :(|)

Ant ideas much appreciated..

Tori x

I'm thinking maybe lavender - plants or oil. Lavender is very relaxing and all natural and smells delightful. I sprinkle Oil of Lavender in my hoover bag and it makes the house smell lovely.

In addition, lavender oil can be applied on the opaque part of a filament bulb.

What is your room like, e.g. carpet?

Its a carpeted room, the light fitting is enclosed so cant put anything over bulbs unfortunately.

We have windows, but they are sashes and the cords broke grrr... need to get it fixed.

Will try lavender, I got a spray from avon but it smells like cats wee :(|) will try essential oils in a burner when i am sitting down there, and will look for a lavender plug in thanks

How about growing some herbs in pots on your windowsill. They give off a lovely smell and your piggies also get to have lovely home grown fresh herbs to eat too :)

In that case, you could apply some lavender oil to a cloth, and place the cloth behind a radiator.

Bicarbonate of soda can be used to absorb odours in your carpet, and from the atmosphere. Simply sprinkle the soda on the carpet and hover, and leave a container containing a generous amount of soda in the room.

My Aunt used it all the time when she smoked. The other day she had a sliced up onion in her front room, apparently it helps to rid the room of the smell of varnish. At least there is method in her madness. :)

I saw that on Tv the other day, to slice an onion when you have been painting and it absorbs fumes..

ive just been to the weighhouse to stock up on bi-carb.. will do the whole basement tomorrow.. think i may pimp the hutches and start to move them back outside now its nice.. not that its exactly outside.. they are going in the garage this year x

You could use a reed diffuser, I have bought some they make your room smell lovely. You would have to put them out of reach though as they contain oil.
