If anyone goes to Aldi in the UK/Ireland (if alldi is in Ireland).

Can you reckamend any packet salad or mixed veg, for guinea pigs.
I get kale from there and the love it

Or even any good ones at tesco?

Really want to try and give them lettuce, rocket etc
:help::ple:

We give the girls these from tesco:
Coriander
Chantenay carrots
Cucumber
Dill
Flat leaf parsley
Pack of three peppers (green, yellow and red)
Romaine lettuce.
Celery.
Pack of four mini sweet corn cobs.

my older ones seem to like them but the younger ones not so much, one minute they love them the next the hate them.
I heard I have to take the seeds out, is this true and have been anyway

I give mine the occasional cherry tomato complete with seeds. If it's a piece of larger tomato I do take out the seeds.

Mine love all the things @Chief Guinea Pig listed. As an occasional treat they have chicory.

can they eat rocket and chard. want to try the pre-packet stuff, someone told me about there baby leaves packet

Rocket is fine (it's cultivated dandelions in effect). I'd give chard in v small quantities. Red chard can colour their wee and cause unnecessary alarm! Some mixed leaf bags are fine, just avoid iceberg, and limit spinach as it's very high in calcium.

I've recently been buying the "normal" rather than mini sweetcorn on the cobs from tesco and just cutting them in half at home when that works out cheaper. I cut as far as I can with the knife and then just break them in two with my hands. I been giving it about once or twice a week.

I think it does have to be on the cob. The tinned stuff wouldn't be good because of what it's stored in. It's higher in sugar I think than some other veg which is why I don't give it all the time. Baby sweetcorn would be ok and they can eat the leaves (husk or whatever you call it) around a corn on the cob too.

They nibble all the bits of corn off and leave the hard core.

I struggle to cut it in half with the knife! Little weakling these days. Lol

Mine love corn on the cob.It just goes in whole but I have a group of six and a group of four

Tesco is great late at night, just back from their and got a bag of lambs lettuce and a bag of rocket leaf for 6p each, can't say no to that and the piggies get a good variety :)

Hi my boys eat this veg daily......spring greens, cuecumber, corrandior and cos Lettuce then I add a small amount of some of these to that daily veg (these are over the week not the same things each day)...cherry tomatoes, kale, spinach, apple, peas, green beans, colly, broccoli, parsley, other herbs, corn on the cob, mini corn, a few slices of carrot, seedless grapes. Once in a while I add a tiny amount of swede, parsnip, honeydew melon, banana, seedless berries (raspberry).
They don't like any peppers, cabbages or courgette.
I downloaded the safe guinea pig veg guide but I'm struggling to fine many of the veg on the list in our supermarkets. :(

did it take ages to dowload the veg guide coz I keep trying it get to 50% and stops

my meg&sophie love courgette, peppers and cabbage (I don't give cabbage oftem meg gets bloated), hey love nearly every veg I give them

So I can try flipflop on a whole corn on the cob with the green leaves? I never knew that!

tried them on romaine lettuce this week and they love it, given them corn on the cob today, so hopefully they like it

I have been wondering if I feed my piggies their fruit and veg in the right way every day. I give them very small quantities of lots of things. Staples are carrot, parsnip, red pepper, sweet corn and broccoli. With that they might get cabbage, sprout, spinach, ribwort plantain, dandelion leaves or flowers, kale, celery, apple or blueberry. They each get a bowl of it once a day. Should I feed perhaps larger quantities of fewer things? I've been feeding them this way for a few years now, and they seem to be doing fine on it. Here's a photo of this morning's breakfast.

I give mine there veg in the afternoon/evening. I always give mine cucumber and celery, carrot 1-2 times a week. and either kale or romaine lettuce depends what I have in. but it just depends what you piggies like and how much they eat. my older two eat all of theres pretty much straight away and my younger two just eat bits, so I have to
take there out in the morning the the others when it is empty. her mine the big tub is for my rabbits the bowls are for the piggies
