Just thought I'd tell you all about their rescue stories.
Oreo and Domino ... these 2 boys are believed to be brothers. They are 3 years old, 4 in July.
I first saw these 2 in my local P@H in the adoption centre and at first I walked away. I'd just moved into my house after 2 gruelling years at the in laws waiting for a house to become available and at this point I already had 9 rescue hamsters.
Something dragged me back to these 2 for a second look when my poorly 6 year noticed their claws were horribly long. That was it, these boys had obviously suffered some neglect and I needed to put that right. They were coming home!
The lady helping me in the store was fuming and took them straight up to the vets for an MOT and a nail clip. She said that normally they are checked when they come in but a member of staff was poorly and sent home so didn't finish their intake properly.
I hadn't had Guinea pigs in years so bought everything needed right then and brought them home.
Oreo was very tubby, very much in charge and loved a good stroke round the ears. I checked his bum pocket and found it was full of soft poop and glue poor guy, cleaned him out and was rewarded with a loving lick on my hand.
Domino was also tubby and very shy, but he had nothing to worry over.
2 weeks later I couldn't stand the sight of them living in that cage anymore so cleaned out under my stairs, laid down a gym mat with a tarpaulin on top and permanently borrowed the hamsters playpen as a little fence. I gave them their own lamp and night light too.
Oreo still needs cleaning every 2 weeks and their claws are now back in check. Not so tubby either lol.

Cookie ... he's six months old, full of beans and very vocal.
I was in P@H again and the staff were separating 2 males. Apparently Cookie had been chasing the other Male so they separated them in case of a fight.
They were just logging him in to the adoption system when I decided I'd take him. My kids always commented on his fluffy butt whenever we visited the store and he'd come to them at the glass with a wheak and popcorn.
Got him home and straight away trimmed his hair and got rid of the matted hair from his tummy. Settled him in the cage the older boys were in but he was very quiet, not the Cookie from the store.
Decided I would try side by side with the older boys and he came right out of his shell, we had cookie back again!
I wasnt planning on bonding them but they all slept together with the bars in between and seemed to want to be closer. I removed the fence, they had one tiny spat, mainly Oreo telling Cookie he's the boss and within 20 mins they were fast asleep together!
That was a month ago now and I'm still keeping a really close eye on them. It's not the done thing to have a trio of boars but I'm ready should anything happen.
