and indeed am i doing it right. I think not so plaese feel free to tall me what more i can do as i am kind of new to this and dont want to fall into bad habbits

so my routine is as follows:

first thing 06.30, change water and replenish food bowl and talk to them
get home 17.50 and pigs come out for a run, cuddle and play

water and food is checked again

cages are tidied and bedding freshened and hay added

fresh veg offered - usually a carrot or some leaf veg

bed down for the night at around 9

it sounds 100% fine to me,although not that its needed but i do prefer to give at least 3 varietys of veg each meal and i split there veges so they get one feed in the morning and one at night

That sounds just great to me. They have food, water, play time in the day.

Are you having fun with it too? (It has to be fun too right?)

it was your bowl of vegies that got me thinking

also - hay - bedding or food?

i know my piggies love to eat it but i was sure i was told it is used for bedding

with my fleece cages they still have unlimited hay to eat,
Basil and ralph who have all hay in there cage and in there bedding area to still have a hay rack,as long as they have alot of it to eat its fine x

you are doing more cleaning out than me i think - i freshen up daily with a full clean aided by my 5 and 2yr old every weekend

you have made me thing of something else too

new thread coming up

Give them a bit more of a choice of veg and greens mornings and evenings, and you have perfectly happy and spoilt guinea pigs!

For a balanced diet and ideas have a look on this thread:

If you introduce new food, do it only one new food per feed and leave what they haven't eaten for a day or two, so it's a bit more familiar when it come round the following week! (Bit like children...!)

Your routine sounds fine - very much like mine when I am at work.

I do a check on everyone first thing (- 6am ish on work days :() and top up any water etc that needs doing.

They get veg, hay top up and dry food refill at 7pm every day but when I am off I do tend to give them extras through the day!

I do spot cleans as needed and a full clean every weekend.

Cuddles and floor time are fairly adhoc but they all get plenty of love between me, my OH and the kids!

One of my piggies - Sophie got a poory tum from possibly too much green which was sorted out - could be thats why i am holding back on the veg a bit

also a change in the area of grass and quality of grass

i dont think i will worry - they get loads of love and TLc and are still settling in

i do want to get the new run finished so they can get more of a run at the same time
