mutton chops

Hey

Was just wondering how much veggies/fruit should be offered to a Piggy each day ?

Maybe that's a really obvious question but like most of us here I just want to make sure my Girlies have the absolute best I can offer them.

I've read the piggy shopping list and it says one cup per pig per day but obviously piggys come in all different shapes and sizes and I would like to know if there's a ratio or something like that ?

I have a 5 year old sow who on Saturday weighed 1040g.
I also have a 5 wheek 2funny old girl who weighed in at 257g Saturday.
They have unlimited access to dry food and always have plenty of hay to sleep on an eat. They also have timothy hay with herbs, vitamin supplements in their water and get a treat when I clean them out every week.

I have just been giving them as much as I thought and want to be a bit more precise.

Thanks

I give all mine 2 bowls of mixed fresh veg every day, one in the morning and one in the evening. My pairs of guineas share a very large rabbit bowl and my singles a smaller bowl :)

Hiya,

I give mine 2 portions of 6 different veg per day. Although I was running short of supplys today so they had 2 pieces of Romaine each, 1/8th of red pepper each and a stick of celery each, I repeated this tonight. I'm going shopping for supplies in the morning.

Thank you. O0

Forgot to say though, I feed mine veggies whilst their on my lap. It means that they get the same amount and its nice too!
Bubbleberry could eat for Britain, so if I don't, Bee-Bop Mutton Chops won't get any! :)

Sorry if I'm being awkward. ::)

I forgot to add that I also give mine herbage whenever possible....I pick dandelions for them a couple of times a week (being careful where I get them from so they are not fouled by other animals or had weedkiller etc) and all spring and summer I grew cereal and timothy grasses, yarrow, plantain, chicory as well as household herbs such as parsley (in moderation), basil, mint and dill :)

Our garden is very special and grows lots of dandelions! Dad is under special instructions not to do anything to dandelions in our garden!

Parsley is a firm fave along with melon and cucumber. Celery is also a popular choice.

Discovered today they like plums because mum & I were eating them whilst they had a cuddle & they helped themselves!

Mine get veggies once a day, in the evening, and dry food in the morning. I have two large boars and as an example they would share one cut up carrot, or half an apple, or a similar amount of broccoli, cucumber or whatever I have. They like the stalks of broccoli, which is handy as the children don't!

They only get one variety each day, but it's different each day. They often have whatever we're having for tea, and seem perfectly happy with the peelings or offcuts.

mine get their veggies in the evening, tho they are quite fussy. They usually get half a carrot between the three of them diced small, a handful of either spinach or chopped cabbage leaves, then either some baby corn or a few slices of apple

Mine have fresh veggys for breakfast before they go outside, if tis nice, and again at tea time they get more veg and dry food, plus their hay. They love spinach leafs, its one of their favourite food, but i read somewhere that to much is not good for them. At the mo, if i have got it in, they have a few leafs everyday mixed up with the other daily veg.
