Ok, so I don’t know if my piggies are ill or not...

One of them keeps sneezing a lot, and isn’t nearly as calm as she used to be. This has been happening for a few days now.

The other is sneezing and making a wheezing noise, if I can catch it on camera, I’ll add that, as well. She is normally quite loud, and doesn’t really like being handled anyway, but she is trying to run and escape from my sister even more than usual.

As always, thanks x

If you are concerned, especially with sneezing and wheezing, then you need to go to a vet asap. A vet would rather see a healthy pig with a worried owner than someone who has turned up with piggies with an advanced illness. If they have respiratory infections they can go downhill very quickly so it's best to be safe

Hi!

Please have them vet checked in case it is a respiratory illness or if it is rather a sensitivity to hay dust (do you use dust extracted hay or could you switch to another brand to see whether it is better tolerated?), pollen, perfumed air fresheners, scent sticks, smoking, air conditioning etc.

We have taken them to the vets once before are very far away from us, over an hours drive away. It also makes the piggies incredibly stressed, should I leave it a day, and see if they are any better, or just take them today?

We can't make this decision for you, but if the wheezing has come up all of a sudden or has got markedly worse without you starting a new bag of hay or a change in their room, then I would recommend to see a vet promptly.

I have to travel that distance with my own piggies (sometimes on the train) to see my specialist vet. The first time is always the most stressful; the more you do it, the more your piggies get used to it. ;)
