Another convert to rehoming

I just wanted to share with you my success as I'm quite proud that I made the effort and it paid off.

I had a Freecycle email from a lady asking for a guinea pig cage AND the guinea pig to go in it for her daughter. I sent her an email recommending that she look into rehoming and gave her a couple of links to helpful websites with rescue details. I also suggested that perhaps they could consider rehoming a pair instead of just one as they are very social creatures. And if they wanted any advice then to email me.

I thought there was no harm in sending the email, if they didn't want to take the advice then they could just ignore the email. But this evening I got a lovely reply from her saying they had looked at the websites I gave them and they are going to make contact with a rescue and arrange for them to come and do a homecheck. Also that they would be more than happy to rehome a pair instead of just one and she didn't realise that they would be happier like that and thanked me for the advice.

RESULT!

You were really brave sending that email I'd have been terrified I was going to get abuse back!
It's lovely when someone really sits up and takes excellent advise :)

So great of you! It's things like that that definitely make your day!
 
That's really encouraging! Much of the time people simply just don't know about guineas and small animal rescue and are quite receptive to a bit of friendly advice as opposed to aggressive lecturing. Well done!
