I'm starting to think that my guinea pigs are a bit odd. I have tried giving them treats such as choclolate drops, fruit crossys and some of the natural range treats from pets at home but they just don't seem to take it. At first, I thought it may be because they don't want to take treats from me but they take veggies from my hand. Does anyone have any ideas on any treats I could try them with or do you think treats are not for them? My other pets love treats and i'd like to treat my piggies too. They do eat fruit sticks that hang in their hutch. :smiley6600:

Personally I think the best treats are extra veggies, bits of fruit, herbs and different hays/grasses etc O0

Mine occasionally get parsley bells (from the naturals range) and they love those too O0

The best treats are veggies and the occasional excel nature snack or parsley bell like Jane mentioned. Remember that piggies are herbivores so they must not have any sort of dairy product (yoghurt drops or biscuits that usually contain egg). Absolute no-no on the chocolate/fruit drop front, even though they are sold to target small animals. The sticks you can buy can also be a choking hazard because of the small grains of millet in them - bit high in fat and protein for pigs, anyway. I leave that sort of thing for hamsters!

My pigs love fresh parsely. They go mad for it. Their biggest treat, which i try to give them once a week. :)

Thanks for this information as I didn't realise they were not allowed choc drops. Good job they didn't have any. They must have been trying to tell me something. I'm going to get them a parsley bell I think :smitten:

One of mine would eat an easter egg if you gave it to her... I have to be really careful to check the floors if she's out and about as she is like a vacuum! Mine love dill, coriander and parsley as treats, though they actually get coriander quite a lot.

Have you looked on the Pampered Piggies website? They sell brill stuff - my boar loves the Piggies Packed Lunch and the willow balls and the grassy logs and the sisal carrots and corn and the cholla rolls ....... mmmmmm? perhaps this is why my bank account is always looking off colour! ;D

yeah pampered piggies sell alot of natural treats such as the parsley bell, mine love all these treats :)

I bought treats for my ladys but their not fussed to be honest. But give them parsley and they nearly take my hand off with it. I agree with the others veggies are the best . I havent tried them on any pampered piggies stuff though (although i know they'll love it all) coz my student loan dont go in for another 2 weeks but as soon as it does ima spend spend spend! O0 O0 O0
