Tend to annoy petshop staff with their knowledge? I rub them up the wrong way ? That sounds kinda wrong but you know what I mean.

I don't buy my animal foods from there. I get them from a wholesalers where they don't sell animals, but I nose in them ::)

I do go to a garden centre that sells guins, but don't lecture anyone, only potential buyers if hey ask a question (or my mum pipes up that I have a rescue LOL!). Like you my stuff comes from a wholesaler and some from online. Thank goodness for farm shops :)

That's the thing I don't go out of my way to lecture people. It just slips out before I can stop myself! :o

Yep, when the staff try to recommend things to me, such as vitamin drops or exercise balls, I tell them that they are giving out the wrong advice and that they are directly causing piggies to suffer. I have upset quite a few. I have stopped going into pet shops altogether now though.

At my new vets I had to tell the girl on the desk that guineas do not have nil by mouth before surgery ::) ::) ::)
She said Rocky would have to go in a box with only newspaper, and no hay or cereal or water for 12 hours prior to surgery :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

God, I miss Roger :smitten:

lack of confidence keeps me quiet, or i could get very excited with them

The one where I got Sunshine from I could happily thump the owner. She is so narky and everytime someone buys a guinea from her I hear her say you aren't putting him in with another boar are you? They will fight, he'd be better with a rabbit! 98) So when I was buying my timothy hay I said actually, sorry to interupt but I've two boars living happily together and do not put in with a rabbit etc etc. I God her face was like thunder! I haven't been back since, Peter will have to get me my Hay! Actually they do the same stuff in a none selling animals shop near his work! I'm scared now! :D

I have a lack of confidence most of time but around animals I don't! :o It's pretty weird really :o

I was in this petshop and they were displaying this stuff with the C&C grids in the solid blue . I wnet up to the staff and go:
"Did you know you can use those grids for guinea pig cages?"
Petshop owner- "No you can't - they only snap together"
"you can because i have some"
"you can't , No"

Then i walked out the shop - snobby cow.
LOl!

I tend to linger around the staff as they try and give info out on guinea pigs ready to pounce at any moment, god help them if they get anything wrong!

I dont usally say anything to them unless something is really bad...

I'm only 13 so am not really going to annoy someone at a pet shop that does probably know more than me am I? ;D

I have had a stand-up row in the middle of a pet shop before. :D They had a guinea pig being beaten up by an enormous rabbit in a sale pen, and after they took the lid off and I picked up and cuddled the pig, I let rip on them for putting the bunnies in with the piggies.......... they let me take the pig home for free and I don't speak to them anymore. The pig in question was called Sprout and we only lost him last week actually. He had a dodgy heart so at least he went peacefully in the end. :smitten:

I keep an eye on other places locally but the only two places I really go to (a pet shop and the local garden centre) are very good and their head staff are properly trained in various animal areas.

Omigod! Poor little chap probably had heart condition because of being beaten up by the bunny! Poor love 0:) Well done you for taking him in and shame on them for allowing it to happen in the first place!
