One of our foster mums has been prescribed Carprieve for treating her 5 year old male guinea pig with arthritis. Has anyone else had this for their piggies x

I believe they are similar to rimadyl, metacam etc but there is probably a reason the vet has chosen this over metacam. Does he have any other health issues?

Iv never used that or rimadyl with a pig x

One of my boars had it for his arthritis as Metacam upset his stomach.

Petal used to have monthly Cartrophen injections for her bladder issues as it is anti-inflammatory, but I believe it is not the same thing. It did help her arthritis as well. If she is not sure about Carprieve I would ask for Cartrophen instead as it was fine with Petal :) Cartrophen is not the same as Carprofen, which is Rimadyl. Cartrophen is given as an injection once a month x

Arnold was on 3.33mg per day, split over 2 doses, Although it's recommended to have it as one dose.

Guinea Lynx states 4mg/kg.

My rabbit has cartrophen for arthritis which is not a painkiller but a disease modifying drug. My vet has also used it for cystitis in piggies
