I have 3 guinea pigs. One is 1 and I have two 4 month old babies. One of the babies (toast) chews on everything. Cardboard, wood, fleece, the bars of the cage and even some wire he got ahold of. (He’s ok now) so I went to the pet shop to get him some chew toys. There were loads of different ones and they were all super expensive. I eventually decided not to get any. Is it safe to give him some apple branches from a local orchard?
And why does he chew on everything but not my other two boys?
(Yes I have 3 boys together, and yes they get along)

Yes Apple branches are ok. Just make sure there’s nothing on there, and they’re clean of bird poop.

As an aside, you have to bear in mind that your three get along because the two are young. They’ve hit the start of the teenage months (4-14 months) so the bond could be tested through either of them trying to be the dominant pig. And your oldest (if less than 14 months) could have another hormone spike. Just bear that in mind and keep an eye on them. Hopefully they make it through but have a plan B in case they don’t (worst case scenario having all three living separately).

Pigtures please 😁

Apple branches can be a good chew toy for guinea pigs BUT I wouldn't get them from an orchard unless you can be 100% sure they have not been treated or sprayed in any way. This would be unusual in an orchard.
Remember that even organic plants may have been treated with natural products which could prove harmful for your piggies.
Things like toilet rolls (cut along the side so no heads get stuck), paper bags stuffed with hay and cardboard boxes are great chew treats.
Mine also love willow twigs, hazel branches, apple and pear branches, but all from our own garden so I can be sure they are safe.

Alright I’ll have a look around my neighborhood for Apple trees

My two love apple branches (in fact they had some today!j but as mentioned you do need to make sure they are ‘clean’.

I absolutely agree with @Siikibam regarding the three of them living together. The chances of them making it through the teenage months to adulthood (14 months +) as a trio is very low. Have a back up plan in place for separation in case it is needed.

I have the recourses and space to separate them and get sows if needs be. I also know that they’ll have to be in seperate rooms but I have a studio as well as a bedroom to keep them in so that will be ok

It’s good you’re prepared. PS c&c cages are stackable, and so are other types with a bit of planning. 😉
