I picked up some apple sticks today for my guinea pigs. I was looking for toys/treats/anything to occupy them and alleviate stress, boredom, squabbling, etc. I was very disappointed to see so many things being advertised for guinea pigs that are terribly unhealthy for them, like yoghurt drops and seedy treats covered in honey. :{

But I saw these apple wood sticks that were chewable that looked like it would be fun for my boys to nibble on to keep their teeth trimmed and keep them occupied so they have something to tear apart other than each other, lol. They haven't had any serious fights, but I've noticed they've been squabbling more so I'm in the process of providing two of everything for them and making sure they have stuff to to do to keep themselves busy.

Are apple chews/wood sticks okay to give to them? They seemed fine to me but I'm new to raising guinea pigs so I like to double check first before I give them anything new.

P. S.: I tried stuffing a toilet paper roll with hay and putting it in for them. They had a blast with it. :))

I tried,mine not interested at all.Instead when we was in forest we get couple of Birch sticks from dead trees and was hit for couple of weeks.Just make sure they clean and dry.They also very like remove something from something - so any stick with removable Bark will be very attractive for them just need make sure that trees itself not poison for them on chemical level and not injure them on physical level.
