Are essential oils safe for guinea pigs?

Hi there! My mom just gave me an essential oil diffuser, one of the ones that dilute the oils with water before putting them out into the air. I was wondering if these are safe for guinea pigs. I used diffusers often before I got them, because some of them help with my asthma, but I want to make sure it’s safe before I use it around them.

Hello! Unfortunately no, oil diffusers are not considered safe for guinea pigs. This is because as it releases the vaporized essential oils, it may end up getting on your guinea pigs fur. The scents most likely will also irritate or bother your guinea pigs.
