Are guinea pigs boring? Everyone I know who had them said they were boring, noisy, etc... And that you get tired of them after awhile. Do y'all think your guinea pigs are boring?

I also heard that they'll go the bathroom in your lap, and if you let them wander the room.

Is this all true?

No they are the best pets you can get
I spend hours with mine every day and I would never get bored of them
Yep mine will sit for hours and chill with me

Don't they go the bathroom in your lap? I've seen people wrap theirs up in blankets and was wondering if they go the bathroom in you.

Shifting uncomfortably, nibbling at your clothes (or you!), movin around a lot :)
Obviously all pigs are different, mine squeak if they want to get down too! X

Oh ok! Thanks! Have you ever had one go on you? :)

I don't find them boring but I do place a blanket on me when they are having lap time. It's rare the make a mess but accidents can happen as with ANY small pet. Even a hamster can wee on you, it's honestly not a big deal.

Thanks everyone! I'm just trying to learn all I can!

Do guinea pigs enjoy being in your lap? Do they like human companionship?

All pigs have different personalities, mine do tolerate being handled but would probably prefer not to be. I like that they're all different.
Well done for doing the research!

Just take time reading through this forum. It will certainly educate you the right way about pigs

Mine won't stay still long enough to pee on me! My old pigs (who were more 'cuddly' ) never did.

I let mine out for floor time and they don't pee on the carpet but they do poo a lot! I think mine are probably quite unusual in not peeing though.

They are not boring at all! I think most people who find them boring don't give them the space or opportunity to run around - my three make me laugh every day with their antics, zoomies and popcorns

I had a guinea pig in the past that would just go to the toilet whenever he felt like it. Never seemed to occur to him to let me know to put him down again. But my current pair of boys don't. Comet starts nipping at my clothes (and it's the only time he does it) when he wants put down, and Blitzen just gets even more irritated with me than usual.

As for boring, not a chance. My two are great entertainment. Blitzen got into a disagreement with a bowl recently because apparently the silly thing was in his way and he shouldn't be expected to have to look for a bowl in his way when he's hungry. When I was coming home from London on Saturday, Comet kept poking his bum as far out of the carrier door as he possibly could, so everyone could see this mass of red/brown fur and kept mistaking him for a cat. I've seen attempts at dominance displays end when Comet gets distracted and falls over, I've seen Blitzen's headbanging when he popcorns, I've seen the fallouts when they both wind each other up - they may not be going for walks or curling up at your feet to go to sleep at night, but they're no less entertaining and fun as pets, especially as they become more comfortable with their owner or carer.
