I would say it depends on who you can trust? If they are being well looked after but your friend isnt sure on handling is there no-one who can come for cuddles? and also do you know anyone has used the petsitting service?

I know plenty of people who have had good experiences with these services and only a couple of negatives, but obv when it comes to our furry family we dont want to be the minority..

Just an idea, but have you tried asking if anyone from here would be able to do it? At least then you know they will be well looked after by someone with experience..

I havent been away yet, but am lucky cos my Mam said she will petsit for me.. I would find it hard to trust someone with my furry babies lol x

I am reluctant to leave them with anyone but they have to get their cuddles and hay and veg and food , water daily i want to be sure they will get that with whomever i leave them with. I guess if anyone on here is close to me and i see where they would be kept for the week i MIGHT ask them. but at the same time i dont want to impose on anyone. but its a good idea as i know the members on this site are piggy mad :-) as am i

I have left mine with Kennels before but every time we leave them there, we always get a text or phone call on holiday to say one of them as died. And my piggies are usually fine before I take them. I dunno what they do with them. I think it's maybe the stress because they can hear the dogs barking etc. And I feel althrough a kennel accepts small animals, I feel they mostly have experience with cats and dogs and are more dedicated to them.
This time I am not leaving these ones with a kennel, I can't trust them. And i don't want another one dying on me.

This time, Becky from here is looking after them. Which is nicer because she looks after piggies and is dedicated to them so i am confident they will be fine :)

My hamster is going to be looked after by my mum's...sorry can't spell the word...but someone who cuts your nails. lol Yeah well they are looking after them...or now it may be my sister's boyfriends mum.

Hope you have a nice holiday

we get guineas here on a regular basis for holidays, all we say is that the animals are left at the owners own risk and any vet treatment required must be paid promptly,as with most things in life there is no guarantee that something might go wrong,so far touch wood we havn't had a holiday pig depart over the rainbow bridge due to illness.

also,as much as the owner may believe that their pigs are fit and healthy there is nothing stopping them from bringing an infection in with them, that we have happen before and one of my own herd passed away from it.

if you cannot leave your piggies with a neighbour or relative then you have to take your chances.

Hi Al

i wouldnt like to take any chances with my piggies i want the best for them and i havent finnished my search of finding somewhere and somone who willl give them the care they need for the week. and if i cant be sure i can find somone who will give them all their need i just wont go on the holiday and look after them myself and let the rest of my family go. x
