Are these hay balls any good

I used to have one of those folding metal hay racks but decided to take it out as I became paranoid about Erin getting trapped in it.

They already have toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay but it doesn't last long :)) so I would like something else as well.

I'd highly recommend them, they keep mine amused for hours and you can put fruit or veg in them too if you want them to work for their breakfast :)
i'd be aware though that if you buy one that has a bell attached and the pigs live in close proximity to where you spend a lot of your time, you might find the noise a bit tiring rolleyes baxter likes to yank his hay ball really hard and also slam it against the wall of his cage, in the end my boyfriend took the bell out because it was so loud!
 
I've got the one with the bell at the bottom from pets at home. They both love it... Or the prize inside! I've also got the green hay manger but not really using it at the moment. Definately worth a try!
 
Mine love it as well. Floris would like for us to hand feed her everything if she had it her way:))...so this ball is a good way to make her work for it and not eat everything in one go!
 
My piggies have one of these and absolutely love it- it's the first place they go to for hay, i also put some veggies in there and it keeps them entertained for ages!

They make me laugh when they both are having ago at getting stuff out- it starts spinning around and they start running around it to try to get to their veggies lol.
 
Oh just to say- i attached some string to mine and connected it to the upper cage so it hangs down, i found that just conecting it to the side of the cage meant it kept banging against the side- which is quite noisy for me and the pigs and sort of defeats the pint of getting a hay ball i think.

Also by hanging it from something it means both piggies can use it at the same time and it makes them work that bit harder- am i a mean mommy? :(|) hehe.
 
I contemplated one of these after reading about them on a site selling rabbit/guinea pig stuff etc. Had a very good rating.

Noticed one in Pets at Home last weekend, think it was slightly cheaper, about £4. Can't see them on the website though!

Also, I noticed these "hay balls" too. Quite a nice little website. (Hope linking a site is allowed, feel free to remove though if not). :) Worth a look though. Plus, I'm tempted, considering the price.

i did the same, ours is attached to the top of their cage by some string. unfortunately baxter is very good at pulling it back and letting it go as well as yanking it to the side so he can knock it against the walls, so i'm resigned to the noise of it crashing about now!
 
My pigs love these, they're great boredom busters. I tend not to use hay in them though because if I only put a little bit in it all falls out and if I put too much in its too hard for them to pull back out again!?
I like to put chunks of fruit or veg in like apples or cucumber.
I did the same as JackyB and lulu! by suspending the ball from the roof of the cage. I used a cable tie though as I think it's a bit sturdier so I don't worry about it falling down
 
We use these ones for our 2 piggies and they love it. Only £1.79
