Tantalize

I finally got my guinea pigs on Thursday! Two girls called Lily and Rosie.

They are finally coming out of their hutches with me there, but Rosie keeps squeaking like "squeak...squeak"

They also hate being handled, and they wont take food from me. Will this change?

Apart from that they are happy. They love to chase each other around the cage and they started popcorning on their 2nd day!

hi when i got my piggys it took a week or so for them to settle in, and even then they were quite skittish around people,, they soon got over it with having 3 year old twins who were facinated in them and wouldnt take their heads out of the hutch ::),, they are so used to my little ones now,, though one is still a tad nervous and i am the only one who handles him confidently

my advice is give them time and handle in a quiet place as often as possible,, so they get used to you, your smell, the sound of your voice,, they will be really friendly soon

hi, yeah thats normal.. don't worry, popcorning is good, they are happy! O0

it takes time for them to rust you, but as said above they get used to your voice, smell etc..

i find if they live indoors it helps more as your constantly around my boar duke is completely comfortable around me he even goes to sleep when I'm hoovering my room ::) doesnt bother him in the slightest! he's very outgoing though and will tell me off if I'm late with supper etc..i got archie my new baby boar and he's very scared of me yet..I'm starting to get a little nose up in the air having a good look at me when i go past so I'm working on him! veggies always go down a treat, I'm lucky though because archie ate out of my hand from day 1 :) just persist hold a veggie at the opening of the cage and let them come to you :)

my boys were very nervous of me when i first got them the end of August, Now they are such loving boys, they are still hard to catch when i get them out the cage, but once out they do live cuddles and its piggie noises all the way to the run :)

What i find lovely is Brock always seems to know when its time to come in and he runs along the run as soon as he hears me weeking away :) :smitten:

Now its a challange with the girs as the poor loves are so scared :(. They havnt been looked after very well :'( and are very skitty. They are long haired as well. i managed to give them a little groom today with a brush, I'm getting a metal comb tomorrow.
