I went again today to the southport one and spotted the most gorgous baby abby. He was the cutest thing with one pink ear and one black. He was red, black and white and soooo cute! I'm lucky he was a boy as otherwise I would have been so tempted! :))

I need to stop going but they have the best treats and toys and can't resist. We need to get them shut down so I don't get tempted by pet shop piggies as it is so terrible to impulse buy pets!

I order most of my stuff online now, as like you I want to take home every piggie I see!

glad it's not just me - and with me it's not every piggie just the unusual ones like abbys, longhaireds or semilong haireds. Although I also have a soft spot for ones with unusual markings too! i'm doomed I think :))

The thing is i'm still looking for my nicoletta. When I was little I wanted my first girl to be called nicoletta, now at age 27 still without babies my partner hates the name and says it sounds like a breath mint! :)) I have resided myself that one day I will get a lovely girl piggie who will suit the name and I'll finally have my nicoletta. Tia didn't suit the name so didn't call it her.....

As my mum said, one day one will die and I'll need to get a friend for the remaining one and that can be an Abby or longhaired... not sure if I can wait that long though....

If a beautiful rescue comes up on here soon in my near vacinity I know I'll have to have her ....

I know exactly what you mean - look at Taffy! Her huge sad eyes even followed me into my dreams!

One day you will come across your "Nicoletta", and you will know it! :))

Thanks! It happened that way with tiger. I wasn't really looking for another piggie but george was on his own as i didn't know he needed a friend... people on here talked me into getting another and then as soon as I saw tiger I was struck by him. I kinda talked myself into getting him and then my partner into letting me when I wasn't sure myself why I had to have him specifically. :))

Their little faces sometimes just get to you and you have to have that one and no other!

It was wierd with Tia as well as I had expressed my interest in her but was going to be 7-10 weeks til I could have her so I said not to save her for me if she could find a good home in the meantime... Anyway after about a month she was still available and I asked if I wanted to reserve her and it was like I have to as it is fate now...

I haven't looked back since as I love her to death...

It was a bit similar with Taffy; I'd offered a home to some other guinea pigs, but it came to nothing... thankfully, Hels held my option on Taffy despite my other commitment.

your lucky you see some piggies in p@h everytime we go in nowadays there arnt any in there, we only want to "look" hehe, we go at least once a week, its adictive lol

i'm the same with P@H, but my addiction isn't just the piggies, but the smaller furies!

At the mo, we have 8 hamsters and 6 mice, and my daughter still throws a strop when i tell her we can't have any more lol, i use the excuse, we haven't another cage, she then has me going round the store trying to find a cheap one.

But we are getting degus next week, can't wait!

I went to Pets at Home yesterday looking for a new hamster cage for my syrian escape artist (which by the way they didn't have as ALL of their cages are ridiculously too small for a grown up syrian hamster) anyway...

In the adoption centre there was the most handsome ginger long haired piggy, his fur was a lovely colour but he looked sooooo sad and I as I knew I couldn't bring him home and give him a new loving forever home I had to come out of the shop as tears were rolling down my cheeks. :( I really wish I'd have done more research before buying my gorgeous little boys from them a few weeks ago and I'd have known about adoption.

x

PS, I wouldn't change my boys for the world by the way, I'm just saying if I had known about adoption before hand, I would have gone down that route.

I couldn't go to the Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home's Open Day today for that same reason because I would end up coming home with an animal and there was no-one that could go with me to stop me. I'm going to just have to send them a donation instead.

I buy most of my guinea pig's stuff from Pampered Piggies but it's so tempting to buy them loads so sometimes I have to ban myself and just go to a local pet supply store that just has the basics.
