I'd imagine chewing it is ok as it's a safe substrate. BUT has it had any chemicals sprayed on it by you or anyone else? Pesticides, herbicides, anything?
Also worth noting that pigs don't need to chew to keep their teeth short. They grind their teeth, known as bruxing, also hay helps.
Giving them a safe wood to play with/chew on is fine to do. Mine love apple sticks.
Hay and grass is still the only things which keeps their back teeth wearing down though
