only because I have found a little baby girl at P&H. About 10 weeks old, fits neatly in one of my hands, and is an agouti! And a rex! And female! With four tiny black feeties, a tan, smudg between her eyes, and the biggest black eyes you could imagine. Oh, and she was snuggling against me...and she is so tiny! I have forgotten how dooty babies are!

She is, frankly, stunning. Yes, I know that the forum is pro rescue...but...

The only issue is, when will this stop? Only one more is no longer feasible. Yes, I have room for her in the C&C cage, but next year will be the same story. Only one more, and this is the last one...sigh. I already have 7.

I looked at her again tonight. I stil haven't got her. Grrr!

I told the OH (who wants her) that we have to draw the line somewhere. There will always be 'just one more' and I don't want the piggies to become too much with everything else going on. But she is absolutely stunning. I have never seen an agouti Rex in real life before.

Thoughts?

I know you have a difficult choice. The questions you need to ask yourself are:
  1. Do you have enough time for another piggie?
  2. Can you cope if she doesn't bond with your other 7 piggies?
  3. Can you afford another piggie (vets bills etc)?
It's easy to fall in love with a baby piggie and even a fully grown one but you have to be practical and boring. If the answer to these 3 questions is yes and you both want her then you have to decide between you whether it would be a good idea. I can't tell you what to do I can only advise.

In the mean time while you are deciding here are some pictures of my gorgeous Meg.

Here is Meg my black piggie. She has white toes on her right foot and a smudge of brown on her right side that goes underneath her tummy.:love:

Her Mum Velvet is a brown and gold agouti, her brother Christian is a silver agouti and her other brother Dennis is a tricolour rex.

I feel you and I have found that the only way is to be really strict with myself. No more than 4 piggies. To be honest I know full well that when stuff happens in life or one of them is ill the other 3 don't get as much attention because... well... life happens doesn't it. I know that by having more I would compromise care as the lower attention level would be normal rather than occasional and if one or more gets ill I would start to struggle to manage the vets bills.

here in Rome petstores rarely have pets and no shop has piggies (not fashionable nowadays...), therefore I can go inside these shops having a look around the shelves.
BUT:
I don't have to visit certain websites (rescues and breeders). And I often have some "argument" with the lady of my rescue when she writes me saying "I have two cute boars/a cute sow/ etc". I know my house and my possibilities and I had the same things in mind even when I decided to have only two children... and not ten as my neighbour! My neighbour says "after the n^4 there is not any difference", but I don't know if it is true, especially for pets who need private vets.
Be sure that if now you adopt this cute piggie next year or next month you will fall in love again with another piggie; because the breeder who sends piggies to Petsathome will produce other new amazing piggies... and the story will go on.
Anyway, 8 is a good number :whistle::woot:
