Aunty Sally's.....does anyone know what's going on.....?

Hi all

I placed an order with Aunty Sally's mid-September (to the value of about £18) and I waited for my order to be delivered....and I waited.....and I waited. Then, finally, I got an email from a friend of Sally's, explaining that Sally's child had been taken ill and did I still want my order to be sent, or would I prefer to have a refund.

I accidentally deleted all my emails :x so I can't remember exactly what it said, but I seem to remember that the friend was helping to clear the backlog of orders on Sally's behalf.

Anyway, I opted to still have my order sent.......but I received no response to my email. So I waited a little longer, sent a couple more emails to see what was happening with my order, then I sent a request for a refund (I'd lost all patience by now).

But still.....nothing....no refund, no items.....nothing :( I've even tried to get a refund via PayPal (based on the fact that I have never received my item) but I'm over the 45 day limit to request a refund.

I vaguely recall that a GPF member is friends with Sally. If so, can anyone shed any light on this?

I'm nearly £20 down at a time when I need it the most, and my piggies don't have the lovely treats I ordered for them.

Oh that is frustrating but i'm sure Sally isn't ignoring your emails on purpose. Hope someone will come along soon with help, i also have a £5 gift voucher which is going to expire in December...
 
Oh no, how horrible for you and your piggies.
Was thinking of checking the site out today for some Christmas treats too :(
Can't offer you much advice except that Sally may be over her illness by now and catch up with orders :...
I would keep trying with that hope in mind, she has a good reputation so don't think it is anything other than a backlog.
Keep us informed of things please.
 
Hi everyone, thanks for the replies. No, I'm sure my emails aren't being ignored on purpose, and I know the company has a really good reputation.

However, one the one hand I'm thinking that poor Sally has enough on her plate without worrying about her customers.....but on the other hand, I know that, was it my business, I'd be doing everything in my power to keep my customers happy.

Sigh, it's very frustrating!

Hi,

I don't really know Sally as a personal friend but she has boarded our guinea pigs numerous times and we've had a number of chats. We've always been very impressed by how knowledgeable and dedicated she is to guinea pigs and rabbits.

The last I heard, which was a couple of months ago, there was a serious illness in her family. We've tried to contact her by email and text since then but had no response, which is very unlike Sally.

I actually came on to this forum to find out if anyone knows whats happening but when I saw this thread, I felt I had to register and to let you know my experience.

We are very worried for her and her family and think that perhaps the business has to take a back seat to what's going on in her life at the moment.

Sorry this doesn't really help you, but from our experience with Sally, she is totally reliable and wouldn't be deliberately ignoring you unless there is a really good reason. I hope that her family recovers fully soon and that she'll be able to contact you again.

Guessed it must have been something pretty serious for Sally to have closed the shop temporarily :(
Let's hope no news is good news very soon :)
 
Hi cocomabel, many thanks for your reply. Yes, the one message I had from Sally's friend said as much, I think it was Sally's daughter (?) who was ill.

It's perfectly understandble that the business is put on hold at such a difficult time, but, sadly, there may not me much of a business to come back to if the customers feel alienated :(

I would have been more than happy to have had a refund (as I told Sally's friend when she contacted me) but this silence is quite frustrating.

If I had a business and couldn't continue for some reason I would try and make sure that all existing orders were dealt with or refunded. Like you say she is probaly going to lose alot of customers after this.
I hope somehow it all gets sorted.

Agreed; I sell a few items on ebay, just stuff we no longer need/use and some aquarium plants we grow but, no matter what was going on in my life, I would make sure I honoured any sales and kept my 'customers' happy (and I have had some serious stuff going on in my life lately :{).

Time will tell, I guess......
 
Sally closed the shop for the time being as her youngest son was taken very ill and was in hospital for a while. Although he's now home he isn't out of the woods and has to be watched like a hawk.
She is also pregnant with her third child.

Good news! Sally contacted me (after being alerted by a very kind member on here - thank you!) and my order is on it's way! Yipppee! My piggies' Christmas wish has come true....grassy logs, flaked peas and all kinds of yummy treats winging their way to us as we speak :))

Excellent news! I too decided to contact her today about a gift voucher I have and she emailed me back really quickly and said she'll send the pigs a surprise box full of stuff, how lovely is that! She did say she was really sorry and her little one has been very poorly so she needs to put them first before the business - more than fair enough!

Glad you're getting your items just in time for christmas! xx>>>

Hiya! Sally said she has suspended the sales side of the business indefinitely, but she still had some stock which she sells through her boarding business, so she was happy to fulfil my original order....with some lovely extras for the piggies!

The order arrived today, we're all very happy with the items! Om nom nom....(that's the piggies and not me, hehe!)

The parcel arrived today, and Sally very kindly sent my piggies a few extras to make up for the inconvenience of waiting for my order; it's all fantastic stuff, so I hope the shop opens again some time soon, as I'd love to order more items in the future.
