Hi, I’ve read in the guides that this is one of the recommended probiotics for piggies with bladder issues. Unfortunately, both my girls are IC piggies and have been on Pro C as they love the taste of it. I’m keen to reduce the calcium though and wondered about trying the Avipro, but can only find one that’s labelled for dogs. Can anyone point me to the right one? Also was wondering about dosage? Thanks for any pointers!

Avipro Plus is great for piggies too just get the multi-species version, not the dog one. For dosage, a pinch in their water or food should work.

Thank you, I’ll have another google, I didn’t know about the multi species one.

Hi

Most of the calcium is coming via the water (please filter) and the pellets (please reduce to 1 tablespoon per piggy per day) or replace altogether with forage. That gives you more leeway with veg and other supplements like probiotics.

Please also keep in mind that what you are looking for is a diet in which the calcium intake is balanced. Too low can cause the same problems as too high if your calcium ratio is out of balance.

Avipro plus is what my piggies used to have in past years when we knew a lot less. These days I keep basic pro C in stock and switch to fibreplex if really needed (all UK brands). Some recovery brands like emeraid don't need extra probiotics because they already contain it.
