Hi all! I'll be going on holiday for a week ing a few days, I was wondering a few things:
- I can only get someone to come in and feed them once a day. They normally have 2 meals a day but I'm hoping to still feed them the same amount each day in 1 meal. Would it be okay to switch it to a cup of veg in one meal? (30g lettuce, 50g veg)

- Nuggets? Should I have them give the normal amount or more? (25g each)

I feel like it might be too big of a change or just too much food in one meal. I'm not sure, I'm just scared something bad will happen when I'm gone. I really wanna make sure they keep roughly the same weight as of now just in case they were to get sick.

Any help or tips will be highly appreciated!

Yes it’s fine to feed veg in one go - it’s what many of us do routinely anyway.

Nuggets should never be over fed - it is just one tablespoon per pig per day. They are the one part of the diet they don’t need.
(measure some out using a tablespoon measure to ensure they are getting the smallest amount possible. It might be that one tbsp do weigh 25g but its worth a check. I know when I was routinely using pellets that the ones I used, one tablespoon weighed just 8g so they only needed up to 16g between the two of them. I hardly feed pellets now - they get just 5 pellets each on a Wednesday and five pellets each on a Sunday)

The issue is going to lay in them only being checked once a day though. You will have to ensure copious amounts of hay are added - more than you would normally give at any one time to ensure they cannot run out.
I would also advise you to get multiple water bottles on the cage just in case they fail/leak/fall off - so there is no risk of them going up to 24 hours without water

Hiya! Thanks so much for the quick response! I’m glad to hear others also do 1 cup in one meal, it just seemed like so much to give each piggie at once, especially because half a cup looks so tiny in comparison! I’m definitely planning to get an actual tablespoon measure before I go, just to make sure they don’t get overfed accidentally. The people checking on them have already been told they’ll need LOTS of hay, way more than they might be used to seeing in the cage! Both cages currently have two water bottles, but I’m thinking of grabbing an extra for each, just to be cautious. On top of all that, I’ve set up a little camera so I can check on them myself while I’m away. Thank you again!
