Tomorrow i am getting a sow with 3 10 day old babies. So my question is what age do mum and babies need to be split up? Do you think my older boars pair would except a baby? Do i need to treat the babies any different from my older piggies?
hi in my experience i always seperate the baby boars at 3/4 weeks of age
it just depends on your boars on if they will exept the baby some do and some just dont like it have some nutral ground to try them together rub the baby in your boars bedding so the baby will smell like them and when you put the baby boar with the older ones make sure there is a small tunnel for it to go in and hide if it needs to,
hope this helps i bit good luck hun let me know how you get on x

Hi there - 10 day old babies will still be feeding from mum so she will need ample good quality dry food, a mixed selection of veg inc vit C rich ones and lots of hay - timothy hay is the best as well as some alfalfa hay for the extra calcium she needs for the milk.
The babies will need to be sexed and separated by 3 weeks of age to prevent the boys from making their mum and sister(s) pregnant. Once the boys weigh 8-8.5oz they can be separated - just in case the owners got the dates wrong.
