Well, the latest lot of sows that came in were all pregnant, so we've had a few babies born here lately - and I haven't had time to take pics or post them so far! Too busy looking after pigs. Anyway, introducing:

Ally McPig's babies - 4 - 3 boars and a sow

Here she is hiding all 4 under her (she's only a baby herself!):

All the bubs look the same:

This one has a white crest:

And the largest - a sow:

More in a mo...

She had a really difficult labour - the first one popped out right in front of me when I was just off to work, so I hung around to check she was ok and she was heaving for ages and ages with nothing to show for it. Baby number two was breach (feet first) and she simply couldn't push it out so I had to help her deliver it. I thought it was dead and was very surprised when it kicked into life. Closely followed by number 3! Not a pleasant experience for any of us.

Fingers crossed, they were born Wednesday and I was very worried about Dally after such a traumatic start, but she's still with us at the mo.

Well done Sophie for coping so well.

Glad mum's and babies are ok, so far so good as they saying goes.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for them all.

The little ones are so lucky to have you

Well they've just been cleaned out and had a weigh-in, and all are gaining weight ok and looking quite bright. Dally will stay here, too attached already after having to help her into the world! rolleyes

Crested one was a surprise!

Sophie you really are a star - well done. Where would all these little piglets be without you?

They look so very cute - I love babies x)x)x)

By the by - I was involved with a large rescue in October, around 50 piggies were running loose together in a green house, I took in some boars but one of the other rescues very bravely agreed to take in 16 sows. The safe date was at Christmas and it turned out that only 3 were pregnant - a welcome miracle. Just 6 babies arrived - amazing.

Looks like they are all more fertile in Norfolk ;);)

Yes, well I was hoping one or two might not be but they are all quite far gone so it's easy to tell, and the two who arrived with litters are pregnant again because the boar wasn't removed when they littered... :(

Am taking each day as it comes!

I didn't know what to do about the stuck baby, luckily had Vikki on the end of the phone who stayed very calm and then someone else talked me through how to get the baby out. Not something I ever wish to have to do again, but at least I'd know how next time!
