The baby in question will be 3 weeks old on Saturday, He is ony 103g so is he too little to leave mum, or should still seperate? He has a new home to go to with another boar.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

103g is extremely small to leave mum, bit of a toughy really, I would not take him away from mum at that weight. Usually we stick to he 3weeks or 300g rule but if you do keep him in with mum keep a very close eye on his behaviour as I am sure you know. Personally I would not rehome a baby boar until they were a good size usually I pair them with a boar here so I can check they are coping well eating/drinking etc away from mum for at least a couple of weeks before gong to a new home This is just how I do it I am sure other people do differently i just hope it helps :) Hedgehog came away from Mum and sisters at 250g and three weeks old as I thought he would cope well and he had six females to catch if I left him in there, he is doing very well with his 6 week old friend :)

3 weeks is normal though if he's not mounting / rumbling and he's that tiny I would leave him a bit longer. That's really small for a 3 week old?

Leaving mum and rehoming age are two different things - I split them from mum at 3 weeks but won't rehome them until they're 5-6 weeks old a good weight, as the journey and move can be stressful for them. Others do it differently though
