Junior Guinea Pig
Please can someone help me? A friend phoned me tonight to tell me her cat had brought in a baby guinea pig this afternoon, she took it to a vet and a nurse is caring for it. But this evening the same cat was out on her lawn with another baby guinea pig in its mouth, it dropped it onto soaking wet grass, and the poor little mite ran under a garden chair. She rescued it and called me. I went round, it can only be days old. It is warm, looked ok, and I sent my daughter out for kitten milk. Unfortunately none was available so I mixed some Oxbow Critical Care and fed it a little off a spoon. It took the tiniest bit and refused veg and Timothy Hay. It is sooooo tiny, possibly days old. My daughter noticed a bit of blood on its side, and it seemed to be 'passing away' at one point, but picked up afterwards. Poor little mite is now in a snuggle sac, but squeaks intermittently, so I am so worried that it has suffered a puncture wound and is toxic. I have tried to contact a local sanctuary for advice and asked if they have a nursing sow.....
please can anyone give me some advice....I fear the odds are stacking up against this beautiful scrap of life.
