Hi guys,
Ok before i get the see the vet lecture ( i will see the vet if need be! )

One of the 3 babies that momma recently had (Tiny Tim) is always really slow at eating and has been very slow to gain weight.

Well i have looked at his teeth since about 5 days old as i was concerend there may be a genetic problem due to momma being in a poor state and having a back to back pregnancy.

Well 2 days ago i checked in his mouth and his 2 top front teeth are really really discoloured ( very dark green bordering on black), there was a big build up of food behind his top front teeth ( the same colour as to what his teeth are now stained ( or assume stained)

Now he has no pain that i can detect, is eating albeit slowly but surely and gaining a gram or 5 every other day. The teeth aren't loose and they seem to sit properly (from looking at the pigs here), however i am having to clean the old food out from behind his teeth on a daily basis as it makes his teeth look disgusting.

Now am i in line for a dental problem piggy or is this something that has been seen beofre ? am i being paranoid? or is there possibly something wrong?

the reason i ask is because i don't have a good vet up this way and i don't want to go and spend out a fortune on diesel and vet consultations to see a good vet to be told there is nothing wrong and its just a quirk!

He is 19 days old and weighs ( at last, a healthier) 126 grams
His siblings are at 257 g ( female )
212 g ( other male)

Many thanks in advance for any helpful replies :)

You're not going to like my answer :)) you need to visit the vet...you've a gut feel something isn't right, 99% of the time that feeling is right.
I don't know much about baby piggies though, but cleaning out food doesn't seem right?
But I can absolutely understand where you're coming from with not wanting to go unless you're sure :) It's good news he's gaining weight though, but I know I'd end up at the vets just to put my mind at rest. I hope there isn't anything wrong with him though, good luck xox

lol :), its not that i don't like the answer , its the fact a few people on here have been extremely rude on threads and via PMs ( i've blocked one and ignored the others)
I will just tag baby along when i go to see about Phils nut job @) ;), lets hope i get a good vet in dental AND neutering hehehe :p

Thanks :)

Ahhhh, good I didn't want to upset you or anything, I just know I get that feeling and unless I go see the vet it doesn't go away :)
That's a good idea, if the vet is half decent they'll not charge you for two consultations which is always nice, and if there's nothing wrong then all the better! Hope Tiny Tim is okay, and Phil's 'nut job' :)) goes well x>>

Hi,

I know a good rodentologist if you need her to check hi teeth over:))she is in worthing and knows her stuff,

Can he see okay as far as you know and hear?

Sometimes gp can be born as lethals if two roan gps are mated. which often have dental issues they are born white with red smaller eyes and can be blind/deaf.

Hope this is just a tooth problem that can be sorted
