I thought I would take the guinea pig rescue poster in to my local P & H. I was feeling really positive and thought that I could ask them to put it up where the guinea pigs are.
I asked to see the manager who would not entertain the idea and was most abrupt and rude. She said they have their own rescue section in the shop.
I asked her which local rescue they supported and it was a dog rescue ?
I tried to say that it would not hurt to put the poster up to raise awareness to people to rescue instead of buy but I could see I was not getting anywhere
In fact I felt so deflated and gutted when I got outside the shop I cried my eyes out :'(
I got in my car and drove to our other P & H - we have 2 in Lincoln, I cried all the way and had to compose myself in the car before I got out.
Same response from that store manager although she was not rude to me - I think she could see how upset I was.
She said they weren't allowed to put our poster up ?
I did however pull myself together enough to show her Karens piggy PM poster and asked her for a donation for the tombola - and she gave me a £10 voucher.
I think she felt obliged though as I was so upset.
I still feel sad and angry, infact I'm crying now thinking about all the poor guinea pigs that are waiting in rescue to be homed.
I personally didn't think it was much to ask......
Has anybody else tried to take the poster to their P & H? If so how did you get on?
On a better note I took my rabbit Snoopy for her myxy vaccination today and my vet was delighted to put up the poster, she has piggies and most of the vetinary nurses have piggies to
At least some people care.
