Has anyone else seen a hairless gp?! I saw a pic of one earlier and after having a good laugh (sorry!) I wanted to go home and knit it a jumper.........and I can't even knit ;D

Definitely not one I'd want to get - though you'd never have problems with mites I guess..... ;)

I've seen a few. A couple of people on here have one or two (not sure who), and have posted piccies in the gallery. One is called Dottie, that much I remember! ;D

Few people don't like them because of the care they need :)

I've never seen one in "cavy" so to squeak, but they seem cute to be honest! I'd love to have a cuddle of one to see what they feel like.

Each to their own I suppose :)

It's like hairless cats though - just couldn't have one! I like my pets to have loads of fur! Apart from the lizard of course cause that would be odd ;D

I can imagine they would need loads of care.....

I cant help but think it is cruel for them to have been bred in this way, they surely need their fur! Guinea pigs already have a problem with cold temperatures >:(
Correct me if I'm wrong?

Skinny pigs (as they are known) have been bred specially and used in labs. Some kind of genetic mutation.

I feel terribly sorry for these little ones and I think it's a shame that people are now breeding them in the UK. It's only a matter of time before we see them in places like PAH and advertised (for a lot of money) in the free ad papers...then eventually in rescue :'(

Sorry they aren't for me either, I like the furry ones.
Skinny pigs remind me off a mini Hippo although Hippo's are cute

I used to find them really strange, but the more I saw them, the more I liked them. It's horrible when I found out that they were bred on purpose. :'(

I just worry if the breed takes off in the UK there could be a huge problem. Many people still keep guinea pigs outdoors and these poor things would stand no chance. I also believe the breeding process has made them weak, as they were bred for the sole purpose of having little/no fur so there are alsorts of health problems associated with them. People say boars, black pigs and pigs with red/pink eyes tend to find it difficult to get new homes if they end up in rescue. These pigs would surely find it harder still as few familys looking fr a cute cuddly pet would be into them. Feel sorry for the pigs themselves but think the breeding of them should now really stop.

Awww poor loves but they defiantly aren't for me. I like my girls to be soft and cuddly :)

I'm intrigued by Barmy4Boars comment re rehoming - why are black pigs more difficult to home? I can understand red eyes - sorry but I just don't like the red eyed look myself - but I would love a black gp, just never found one. The ones near us are always tri coloured or peach, brown or white.

Same here too. I love black piggies and also red/pink eyes :)

Some people tend to think that black animals are bad luck. Same with black cats being rehomed :(

The same occurs the black dogs too; they are the hardest to rehome I have heard - all very sad :'(

It is ain't it? :( I've always had a love for black haired/fur animals! They appeal more to me :)
