Hi everyone! This is my first thread here but I really need help figuring out what to do. I recently found a bald spot on the fur just above my guinea pig Max's nose. We've only had him and his cage mate for a month or so. Today when I was checking on them I noticed something on max's nose (pictures attached) and I'm really concerned about it. Is this something to be worried about? I applied antibiotic with a Q-Tip to the area but I don't know what else to do. Will it get worse? Should I take him to a vet?

Please take your piggy to the vet. We can’t diagnose without hands on examination.

We also don’t recommend home treating. You don’t know what’s wrong so you can’t decide on the right course of treatment

Guinea pigs often get fungal infections and mites causing hair loss and irritated skin... definitely worth a vet visit. Make sure to practice really good hand-washing because some fungal infections, like ringworm, can spread between piggies and humans.

A trip to the vet would be the best option. If you take them both for a check up, you will get an up to date opinion of their health and can ask the vet about nail clipping etc.
