One of my guinea pigs (she's about five and a half) has been losing hair for a few months. The bald patches aren't in any specific location, just randomly on her body. We've taken her to a vet, she got diagnosed with ringworms, but the balding didn't stop. Her personality, appetite, and energy hasn't been off. She does have nipple discharge. The vet wants us to spay her and have her undergo surgery to make sure she doesn't have any cancer, but I'm pretty hesitant since she's already misdiagnosed another guinea pig of mine.

Hi!

Could you please provide a picture? It is impossible for to make any educated guesses based on your own filtered perception and your very vague description.

Could you also check whether there has been a noticeably weight loss or not? This can additionally help us to narrow the rather wide field of hair loss options. Ovarian cysts do generally cause a symmetrical thinning of hair on the sides/belly.
