My piggies go absolutely bananas (sorry, couldn't resist) over bananas, especially the peel. Does anyone know if a slice of banana is an ok every day fruit? I'd like them to put on a little weight and figure it's high in calories.

I would think that it is like anything else it would depend on the size of the slice. My pigs over the years have either loved or hated banana and some prefer just the skin (slightly under ripe). I think banana is high in potassium and pigs tend to eat more of it when their potassium levels are low. I wouldn't think a small piece every day would be fine although after a few days they may refuse it.

:)>>> evil fruit bleurgh :)>>>

although i know jive likes it....

Thanks for your valuable input, Lovelygirl :))!

... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE banana and could never give it up... I know the food miles are terrible, but I love them so much :) Does it help my karma that I buy organic and fair trade ones? Hopefully, I eat at least oone a day...rolleyes

I love banana's and so do my pigs :) I think a small slice would be okay but they can't eat too much banana as I think it can make them constipated which isn't good for a piggy. I only tend to give mine banana once or twice a week xx

Banana is quite sweet and can bung piggies up. It is better to give a little piece every few days as a treat. that way it is always special!

PS: My piggies prefer the skin...

My Bernie is a banana addict - but he does prefer it mashed and spread on dry bread - spoilt or what rolleyes:))

Teresa xx

Hoggle & Ludo love a bit of cheese on toast! :(|)

Just kidding, don't think bread is good for them because it would swell in their stomach (I think).

I never knew they could have banana skin though, is that something they can have regularly?

I am going to give them a banana tonight, I want to watch them chew it! :(|)
