The breeder we bought our cavies from said he fed them banana leaves, carrots and pellets. So we followed his advise and fed them the same. But since we do not always have banana leaves, we tried feeding them other vegetables. And of all the vegetables they like Baguio beans the most.

Is it okay to feed them Baguio beans all the time? Also with banana leaves?

And while on the topic of feeding, how often should we feed them? I know they should have hay all the time, but we don't have hay readily available to us. So we feed them everytime we hear them wheeking, which is about every 3 hours or so. Would fresh grass be a suitable replacement for hay? and is there a specific type of grass that we should or should not feed them?
