Everyday, or every other day, Bandit coughs once or maybe twice. She is fine in herself and I have been checking for signs of illness since 3 weeks ago, when I really noticed it. I had a cold that week so was being extra vigilant with my girls. Is it because she drinks too fast, or eats too fast? She's not showing any signs of illness other than the cough.

Other info:
She is 1 of 4
She is 1 and a bit years old.

Is it happening when you feed them? My Daisy is greedy and every veg time she does one or two coughs which is her eating too quick

2 out of my 6 piggies are frequent coughers from eating/drinking to fast. I would go from weighing her weekly to daily for a few days and see if she is losing weight (a sign of illness), keep an eye on her for any other symptoms. If you are worried you should take your piggie to the vet to get her checked out.

Sometimes. Bandit doesn't stop eating though. If I haven't fed them that day, shes eating newspaper, leftover hay, you name it. I just wanted to check it wasn't disease. It probably is her drinking and eating too fast.

I have done that. If anything she put on weight. She is massive. She has been to the vet recently. Perfectly fine.
So it's normal, if they eat too fast to cough? That's okay.

It's normal to choke if you eat to fast it happens to us too! It's not desirable but I don't know how you can stop them eating or drinking too fast. I did try different bottles to see if the water would come out slower but it didn't help.
I'm sure a health and illness expert will be along soon, maybe they will have a suggestion on how to stop it, I will watch this thread with interest.

Also my girls weights are 1035g(Bandit), 1016g(Luna, 930(Nutmeg) and 891g(Trixie)
Is that okay?
I only thought the males are supposed to be in the thousands.
