I noticed a few days ago that Barley was mouthing and when I weighed him he had had a small loss. His incisors at that stage were straight. The next day he had dropped another 30g and his incisors had begun to slant. We also thought that the white that is usually around his eye looked a bit more prominent. So got on the phone and he sees Simon at 5pm on Tuesday. Since then (Saturday) he has been able to eat less and less for himself and is reliant on syringe feeds. He has dropped another 40g and tonight is 1009g so Tuesday can't come soon enough. He is off to work with Ross tomorrow as he is much better than me at getting him to take the feeds and will go with him Tuesday before they go off to Northampton. Ross tends to do the visits to Simon anyway as he has a monthly ticket into London.

He is a bit subdued but still pooing as far as we can tell and running about when he needs to. Dulcie and Ophelia will stay at home as they just keep stealing his food so we feel it better he travels alone, not something I usually recommend but in this case it is needed. He will be back with them in the evening and hopefully from Wednesday he can stay at home. I suspect he will have a dental and be put on Zithromax to see if an abscess does develop. It is positive that his eye hasn't got any worse since Saturday as Tim's developed very quickly.

I'm sorry to hear Barley has dental issues.Simon is very good.Jerry my 2 .9 year old piggie had dental issues that simon treated, until he surcomed to bloat,9 months later.Hope Barley has positive outcome.sending positive thoughts.x

Any news Helen? x

He sees Simon tomorrow so no real change at the mo. He managed to eat a little bit of hay but is mainly being syringe fed.

He's home, it was an infected right incisor. His back teeth were ok. He is on Zithromax and the incisors have been filed so that he can eat. He goes back in 2 weeks. Feeling a bit sorry for himself tonight and needs to learn that it doesn't hurt to eat anymore, or it won't as the infected clears. Dulcie welcomed him home by nicking all the veg from his cozy, little cowbag.

 speedy recovery Barley, dont let them get away with it

Off to work with Ross for feeding again today. He can eat but it is still uncomfortable so best he is topped up. Only lost 10g overnight as didn't have a feed so he must have eaten something. He did have a dill tug of war with Ophelia last night though and he won.

Barley is staying at home today as he was 1019g this morning so has been eating overnight and was still eating when we left so hoping he is starting to feel better. There are some veg he struggles with but seems ok with hay which is the main thing. He will have top up feeds this evening.

Moo decided not to get up for veg this morning though so still worrying today but we think she was claiming her pigloo for the day as when I got up Fuzzy was in the front of it. She's getting funny like that in her old age. She ate most of the veg I put in front of her, apart from the coriander Rose swiped out of her mouth. Will see how she is tonight and go from there. She does have gassy episodes though.

Barley has been eating more over the last week or so though he has not really gained any weight, instead he fluctuates within a 30g range. He sees Simon tonight for his follow up.

Barley has been doing really well, maintaining his weight and eating ok. Then last night at veg time I noticed him faffing with his veg, and the only thing he managed to eat ok was coriander. We picked him up and his teeth have slanted again and are overgrown. Managed to get an appointment with Simon for this evening but Ross is on training all day and I wasn't allowed the afternoon off so he is now going at 10am on Monday. He is eating hay ok and his pellets too and is bright in himself, pottering around in Barley world (he is away with the fairies) so will keep an eye over the weekend and top him up if needed.

Good luck with Barley over the weekend and on Monday, it always feels like forever away when you need to wait :(

Sending love to Barley, please let us know how he gets on with Simon on monday x

aw poor barley.

Fingers &paws all crossed here for barley on Monday.

Hope he has a comfortable weekend &Simon can sort him ASAP.
Xx

Aw. Poor Barley. Hope Simon can work his wonders on Monday. Hope you and he have a comfortable weekend.

Was fate that I couldn't go Friday as I ended up needing to take Maud too, will update her thread separately.

Anyway, Barley's incisor had grown back infected and was wobbly so Simon removed it. It may or may not grow back and it if does it could fall out again so we have to see what happens. He is doing well though and was eating hay before Simon could give him his Zithromax. He is quite slow eating his hay as I think he had got used to eating a certain way but he did that last time too. Sees Simon again in 4 weeks or earlier if needed.
