My guineapigs recently had hair loss behind their ears and the vets suggested it was either fleas or ticks and gave them some spot on treatment.
On amazon there is the barrier pet care natural flea and tick spray. Has anyone ever used this product on their guinea pigs or have any recommendations for products that are good for protecting against fleas and ticks etc.

Thanks

Almost all guinea pigs have a bald spot behind their ears. It's more prominent in breeds like Abyssinians. Were they scratching? Broken hair shafts. Fleas usually congregate around the rump and the back legs, so I'd be a little dubious about the diagnosis. The vet locator on here is very good for helping to find guinea-savvy vets.

That said, I've never used this product, but a monthly shampoo with an anti-parasitic shampoo like Lice n easy or FleaorDie, or even human headlice shampoo should keep the little blighters at bay.

Yeah they were all scratching..

I'll have a look for some shampoo for them! Thanks for your help :)
