got all the stuff from gorgeous guineas a couple of days ago so as it was cleaning out day today I thought it a good time for their baths as well. I got the lice and easy shampoo, read the instructions and followed them to the letter but all 4 have never been bathed before so it was quite interesting.

Using the bathroom sink and a diningroom chair I picked my first victim who of course was the flashman who tried to climb out the sink, hated getting wet and made a right fuss, he didnt much like the towel drying either. Crystal was next who is my rex with the skin problem (and the reason for the bath) and she hates being touched for too long, she actually was the calmest of all of them and like my big brave girly that she is was an angel - good job as I will have to do this more often for her to help her skin.

Then I picked minty the abby who did well, she is a gentle soul and quiet normally but can and will jump :o and yep she did try to get into a jumping position at one point but I was expecting it, she was ok till I rinsed her off and she wasnt happy about that, but loved the towel dry and cuddle.

And last (for good reason) was fudge, yep as predicted she screamed and screamed rolleyes tried to bite me and was a right little madam. She hated the shampooing, the water, the towel and the cuddle :)) but she was happy to have her veggies after her ordeal.

all back home to a nice clean pen and all clean and shiney :) eating their veggies none the worse for wear.

I was worried that it would go very wrong but despite them hating me for a while they have gone back to normal in the pen. Plus during fudges screaming nonsense, pepper didnt come running, she did briefly when I had minty out becasue picking her out the cat carrybox fudge screamed at me for putting my hand on her body rolleyes but she was a good dog and went back to the lounge for a sleep where she stayed. Having a dog trying to "help" would not have been very helpful ;)

I now have to catch crystal everyday to put the neem oil on her sore bits, they are much better than last week but she has scratched them a bit too much, her skin is not as red anymore but where she is healing from the lice itchy scratching she is scratching so I hope the neem will stop the vicious circle - and you never know, if she gets all this attention each day she might actually like me - then again she might not :))

Aw, yours seemed to go a lot better than mine!

I hate bath time. None of them like it, and one of them can actually jump out of the bowl whilst I get the shampoo, so I have to be like a ninja!
And they all attempt to bite me.

I feel so guilty, but it's a great feeling after when they are all running around all shiny and polished! ;)

I wish my guinea pigs were as calm as some of yours. I think they can sense when i am coming to give them a bath because they run away and go hide in places i cant get them. Anyway glad your first bath time went well. They might expect it next time. :))
