my short haired piggy for quite some time has had greasy fur and a dirty fur bottom. now normally i dont bath short haired but do you think he needs it ?and also it it ok that my piggy is quite chunky although he is in the weight range ( 1230g)?

It'd give him a bath with lice and easy shampoo, which made my piggies clean and sparkling :)) I have one short haired piggie too, and a abby called Harvey, my little shorthaired one gets so much dirtier than Harvey! If you do bath him make sure he dries off indoors in a box full of hay, and give him a quick rub down with a towel too before putting him back into the hutch (if he lives outdoors)

And the weight...all piggies come in different shapes and sizes! :)) Hope the bathing goes well.

bathed both of mine. one absolutely loved the rinsing and blow drying but the other one was quite scared so bit my tummy. just wondering i have washed him but his bum is still soiled. there are no fly eggs ect ect. do you think he will need a bath once a week till he is clean?

If you have a quick squiz down the link that flips has posted above, step two outlines how to clean a greasy bum!

One of my boars gets very dirty around the bottom area (I don't know how he manages it, but it is a pain!). I have found that the washing up liquid works very well. Swarfega has also been good in the past, but don't use the kind that is on wipes and designed for cleaning the front of motorbike helmets - I used them once as I was in a rush and didn't have anything else to hand - they were rubbish :)
