Hi I have a short haired guinea does anyone know how often I should bath him please?

Bathing shouldn't really be a regular activity, especially for short haired piggies only do it when necessary, at most i wash mine twice a year, just because of their grease glands. :)

Okay thanks very much :)

I agree with above. My long haired girl prob only gets a bath once more than the other ladies but plenty him bath and trims :-)

Unless they need a bum bath, then only bath if it is necessary or every 5 months. Feeling wet is un-natural for piggies, so it shouldn't be regular like humans.

I bathed my long hair guinea pig for the first time since I got him back in November 2013. I have regularly trimmed him and groomed him but he did need a good bath a his hair was getting very dry to touch. I used Posh n Go from Gorgeous Guineas. I also bathed his cage mate so they both smelled the same. It was a lot easier than I anticipated but I got everything ready for the bath before starting.

Really?!? They like hair dryers? I would have thought the sound would scare them. Were they afraid of it at first?

When I first used the dryer I held Birdie close and talked to him then dried his tummy he wriggled at first but then became still so I placed him on the table, when I do his back he lays down with all four paws extended. Just introduce it slowly and dont hold it too close. Even the pigs who come to stay are bathed and they love the warm too. Be gentle with lots of talking and reasurrance
