I live in the UK so having tap water is fine but, not really bathroom water. I’m not sure why but I was wondering whether or not I could fill up my piggies’ water with water from the bath tap/bathroom sink? Thanks

Your cold taps are normally connected to the mains regardless of whether it is in the bathroom, kitchen or utility so yes the bathroom tap is fine to use if you need to.

If you live in a hard water area though it is highly recommended that you filter your guinea pigs drinking water through a water filter jug. Tap water and overfeeding pellets contribute a lot of calcium into the piggy diet, so by keeping pellets strictly limited and filtering their water you can greatly reduce calcium intake and go towards reducing the risk of calcium related health issues

Yes you can use tap water from the bathroom, it just the same as from the kitchen, all comes out of one pipe X

:agr: in the UK all the cold water in your home comes from the same source.

Hi, yes if you are in the UK you will get the same cold water whether it's from the bathroom or kitchen sink.

@PeppaPiggies I have noticed you have two accounts which is against forum rules. Can you let us know which one you would like to keep.

Yeah, sorry. I just got logged out of it and I can’t remember the password.😭

The belief that you shouldn't drink water from the bathroom tap comes from the days when the cold water supply in the bathroom came from a water tank in the loft and not off the mains. The open loft tanks were often contaminated by birds/rodents getting into roof spaces. These days most water systems are straight off the mains, if you live in an old house and are not sure it's worth checking your water system.

Some countries do use rainwater collected in tanks for flushing loos, but most countries now chlorinate all tap water
