How long is the usual length of the course of antibiotics for a URI - do I ask to extend the course (her rationale was that she didn't want them to stop eating due to the antibiotics upsetting their tummies)?

We have 2 babies on a one week course which the vet has said we can extend to 10 days (they are still sneezing).

We have one piggy on an initial injection followed by 4 days - which the vet says we can extend to 7 days (he looks much better).

We have one piggy on an initial injection followed by 4 days which the vet says we should leave as is (she hasn't gone off food hasn't lost weight and the only symptom is wetter sneezes - she is a sneezer anyway and shows her displeasure that way).

Also how long to give critical care - large boar I've stopped as he is eating and regaining weight.
Babies vet has said do for 2 weeks but I'm struggling as they are stuffing themselves so have nice warm full bellies when I pick them up to feed so I only get about 3ml in now as opposed to the 10 I was getting in. One is gaining weight nicely (50g this week) the other is maintaining weight but had lost 10g then regained it and gained an additional 10g).

You give the anotibiotic for as long as needed, i.e. until after all symptoms have disappeared. Your vet needs to decide whether the sneezing is actually URI caused or not as it should normally have subsided.

The same goes for syringe feeding support - you give it until your guinea pig is back to eating normally again. if your piggy is eating at least partially, you give as much as your piggy is willing to take, 2-4 times a day and check with the scales how much is needed once a day at the same in the feeding cycle to exclude the daily fluctuation of 30-40g.
